AMD has been bringing an extreme amount of processing power to low-end laptops these days. Although the rest of the laptop is merely average, the Ryzen 5 5500U will give higher performance-per-dollar than most in this price range.

Lucienne is the definition of "bang for buck". Check these out (CIS prices w/ our egregious taxes included):
ASUS Laptop M515 shipping w/ Ryzen 7 5700U for $675.
HP Laptop 14s w/ 5700U + 16 GB at $649.
These ARE the cheapest, most feature-reduced chassis offered, but to think that just a couple months ago they were offered with Ryzen 5 3500U, at best, for the same price? A-ha.
P. S. These PCs also ship with Ryzen 3 5300U for $446. Not bad.
