Title: Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 531.18 now available with RTX Video Super Resolution and more
Post by: Redaktion on March 01, 2023, 22:39:32
The new driver package for GeForce GPUs arrived yesterday and, in addition to various optimizations for titles such as Atomic Heart or The Finals, it packs RTX Video Super Resolution support. This technology upscales videos and removes artifacts in Chrome or Edge across multiple streaming platforms.

I did a pretty thorough test on 3070 and 3080 laptops. Using a 2K monitor, 1080p30 works fun with 3070 with about 100W power usage. However, 1080p60 only run smoothly with 3080 laptop cranks up to 165W. So using a non-flagship laptop would with this option turns on would break your video watching experience instead of improving it. Nvidia should make it adaptive if not optimize it.

...It could've seen much more use locally...

Thank you very much for your comment! I agree with you and I think they will further refine this feature in the future.
@S.Yu: Definitely!!!
