This is double suspicious considering the Kirins use stock Mali, so if this firmware trick really works, it could quickly apply to a number of SoCs using the same Mali cores.
It's also noteworthy that Huawei's at its old shady practice of buying dishonest ads again.
Huawei first bought a few ads on international sites like these two,
androidauthority(again links must be dismantled)com/gpu-turbo-is-a-flagship-must-here-is-why-883568/
techradar(again links must be dismantled)com/news/what-is-the-honor-10-gpu-turbo
Both are at least honest in clearly stating "by sponsored" or "by promoted".
Another one like this is nothing but a news article
phonearena(again links must be dismantled)com/news/Honor-GPU-Turbo-update_id105567
Then back in China, where ads are poorly regulated, they bought articles at major Chinese media outlets like these:
cnmo(again links must be dismantled)com/news/640042.html
mobile.zol(again links must be dismantled)com.cn/693/6932365.html
Citing ads and news like the above entirely out of context reaching conclusions such as this:
"他们对其在提升性能和降低能耗方面的优异表现均表现出高度认可。"
"(Foreign media) highly praise the capabilities (of GPU Turbo) in enhancing performance and lowering power usage.
Which is entirely dishonest and untrue, as of then no independently reporting media had their hands on a functioning unit yet. I double checked.
And as usual they had the audacity to boast about their own advertising, calling Androidauthority "全球顶级技术新闻网站", "world leading technology news site", before citing their own ad.
