While many other electric cars garner good safety ratings for their combination of modern driving assists and traditional safety features, the top-selling Renault Zoe unfortunately received the worst possible rating in the latest NCAP crash test.

It's safer than the 2013 model, yet goes from 5 stars to 0 stars.

It's not that the car has magically become unsafe, it's that the new EuroNCAP ratings have changed a lot, and have a really big extra chunk on the intelligent active protection systems (lane correction, auto-breaking, etc.).
