Microsoft has finally rolled out the first Windows Insider tech preview of x64 emulation for Windows 10 on Arm devices. The update brings long-awaited support for regular 64-bit x86 applications helping to make Windows on Arm devices a more viable alternative.

That is actually incorrect, there was a Windows RT announced in 2011 and it was available on first Surface device in 2012 with ARM processor.

Btw according to Tihiy: x64 on ARM64 is not WOW64. There's no 64-bit registry, redirection, no x64 DLLs and WOW64 API won't detect it. Instead, 64-bit binaries are hybrid containing ARM64 and x64 code.
