Leaked benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT indicate that AMD might have overplayed its hand with its Zen 2 refresh: The US$249 3600XT is bested in gaming benchmarks by Intel's cheaper Comet Lake S i5-10400.

You fail to mention that an i5 10400 will be out-performed by a Ryzen 5 3600, if paired with any other than a Z490 motherboard. Memory speeds are limited to 2666.... Nobody would be foolish enough to buy a Z490 motherboard (at least £140) and pair it with a locked down CPU like the i5-10400. So, by logic, if a 3600 beats a 10400, then a 3600XT will also beat it... That said, the 3600 will still be the far better buy.
More competition is always good: Intel vs AMD, nVidia vs AMD.
Better performance, lower price.
No need to be tribal about it, just buy what you need and what you can afford.
Google the test. It was faked. The idiots who faked it fessed up.
