Why don't manufacturers just make all laptops convertible, its just a hinge. It would mean less parts, more functionality across whole laptop range. Those that want clam won't be impacted at all, just don't fold it all the way. Must be the cost of touch screen?

Convertibles tend to be heavier, thicker, costly and mechanically more complicated. Personally, I would not support manufacturers making everything a convertible. Frankly, many people have no use for the features and there are too many drawbacks.

It is good to have options - I think that is also what defines the PC market (as opposed to Macs, where you do not get options).  ;)

I have the new Dell XPS 13 convertible, and I think in the year I've owned it I've flipped it into tent mode maybe twice. And never really out of need. Same with previous convertibles I've owned. I can only speak for myself but the convertibility is completely useless to me.

If it doesn't offer AMD Ryzen, it's garbage. Nobody wants an Intel laptop.

If it doesn't offer Intel Core, it's garbage. Nobody wants an AMD laptop.

No AMD Ryzen APUs? Zzzzzz

The 29th Sep X1 event will be such a disappointment for those looking for a long awaited speed bump.

And AMD really needs to pump out those USB 4 devices asap to bypass Thunderbolt Intel restrictions.
