Title: Huawei caught using DSLR shots as camera samples in an ad for its new smartphone
Post by: Redaktion on August 21, 2018, 16:00:12
Huawei has been caught passing off DSLR shots as camera samples of its smartphone. While the company has something to say in its defense, this wouldn't be the first time something of this sort has happened, as similar crookery was discovered two years ago with camera samples of the Huawei P9.

From the bokeh in the screenshot I estimate that the aperture was stopped down to at least f11, possibly f16 (assuming FF,28mm). It's a typical attempt to deceive, as in moderate indoors lighting people usually wouldn't stop down so much, it impacts ISO gain to keep a safe shutter speed. Moreover people want the bokeh in their selfies, the only reason to stop down so much would be to try to pretend that the shot was from a phone which can by physical limitations only produce very little bokeh as past attempts with wide apertures were exposed at a glance.
We know that this one's a fake thanks to the actress.
