CPU performance can be all over the place on the Surface Pro 7 Core i5. When at its best, multi-thread performance will be most similar to the Ryzen 5 3580U on the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3. But if at its worst, performance can be about 10 percent slower than the average Core i7-8565U.

Please compare new fanless i5 Surface Pro with old fanless i5 Surface Pro.
Comparing new fanless i5 Surface Pro with old active cooling i7 Surface Pro is plain "non-intelligent".
I'm seeing the same i5-g4 throttle badly in an HP laptop from Costco. Its either listen to fan all the time or experience throttling. So a larger laptop isn't helping.
