VAIO has launched its latest ultraportable in its home market of Japan. The new SX12 is one of the lightest 12.5-inch Windows notebooks on the market weighing in at under two pounds, or just 888 grams.

The pricing seems a lot more reasonable than...whatever that last model was again, the ultraportable hybrid with ports matching a standard workstation. There are indeed lighter laptops at this size but again the port selection is unmatched in its class. I would assume the battery is also much smaller than the hybrid which was much heavier and had half the battery in the keyboard.
Chinese and Japanese buyers would benefit more from retention of the VGA port than western buyers.
