Title: Huawei's foldable Mate X most likley to launch before Samsung's postponed Galaxy Fold
Post by: Redaktion on April 23, 2019, 23:56:10
Huawei recently confirmed that the Mate X launch is still scheduled for June and the Chinese company could become the first ever to release a foldable smartphone. Samsung still has no ETA for the Galaxy Fold after it delayed the launch, meaning that Huawei has a fair chance to pull ahead by delivering a more affordable and overall sturdier design.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think FlexPai from royale . com has been around for like half a year.

How is it possible that it's gonna be 50% cheaper? Wasn't it already announced that it's much more expensive?
The Galaxy Folds trashed so far have been due to ignorant manhandling and the screen's interaction with the chassis. I maintain my position that the Mate X is not going to survive drop tests or modest wear like being carried around in a jeans pocket or backpack with other stuff.

If IT professional reporters are ignorantly manhandling the device... then the problem is not the ignorant manhandling, it's the device.

Now imagine how "let me speak to your manager"-haircut people would react to a device like that.

The title "professional" is highly diluted nowadays. I'm not even a professional and I know that some screens have a layer of plastic you're not supposed to peel off, and that ignorant joke (the one who peeled from the middle) took to ranting on twitter making excuses for himself.
This should be obvious when the film is 1. clear and transparent i.e. without bubbles or a notable matte effect 2. without any labels on it telling you it should be removed 3. without a protruding edge or sticker for you to peel at i.e. not peelable without sticking your nails underneath.
My old NEX-7, with a regular non-touch and of course non-folding screen had such a layer, for some reason the logo was printed onto it and the anti-glare coating was applied onto it.
