Apple reportedly developing MacBook with 20-inch folding display at high prices

Kinda redundant there. If you say "Apple", then "at high prices" is pretty much assumed.

Even if it was global, if you read the details, this isn't really a change as it is just explaining what they're doing. They were doing most of these things before - all they're saying is 'we'll try to be better at telling you what we mean'... which is good, but doesn't fix the actual problem - the way they do repair.

Most of this is 'we'll provide evidence that we didn't do more damage' - it's about blame mitigation, not actually just fixing the problem. Most companies just fix the warrantied problem and don't even discuss these issues. I mean, who sends their handheld in because the case has a small ding (that conveniently requires replacing the entire display - out of warranty)?

The exception is the reduction in overreaction to cosmetic damage, which is good, but that's what they already said they were going to do in response to the original YT video.

Quote from: Hellish.Mike on Today at 15:52:44This is a tactic to combat piracy and illegal modifications in order to keep stolen smartphones usable. It worries me that sites that are supposed to inform take this stupid sensationalist narrative.
If Samsung's intentions were so pure, the could simply require contractors to verify ownership prior to repairs.

These companies authorized to do repairs are corruptible, you have no idea how much money this business of smuggling stolen cell phones generates.

Hallo,

Guys, is it only me, or Microsoft is doing about the same with the Microsoft Store? Sure, you can download the setup packages from the software manufacturers, but there isn't anything else that comes close to it. Sure, there's Steam and the others, but Microsoft is just as monopolist as Google when it comes to software delivery. However, we should also keep in mind that Android is Google's OS, after all, so they can do whatever they want with it, as long as it's not illegal. So many resources wasted on these lawsuits... I really feel bad for Ubuntu Mobile and Firefox OS failing to take off properly. Maybe things would have been different for Google if that would have happened.

What a disgrace in 2024 - there is no 60fps in 6k or even 4k and there is not even support for recording in 4:2:2.. Who needs this garbage from Panasonic at a price that is at least 2 times inflated? Why pay so much? Video bloggers don't need this, photographers don't either.

Purchased one of these as a refurb off Ebay for $400 US. Put in a 1TB NVMe, scratch install Win 11 (had Win 10 for some reason), is now fast, great laptop, display is gorgeous.
Although specs list max RAM as 16 GB, I put a 12 GB stick and runs great, recognizes total 24 GB.
Love this machine.

Goodbye Asus. We had a good time.
Now it's time to part.
You made yourself irrelevant to the customers who valued the options you provided while others were lining up to be the first to ape apple..
