2022 proves rough for Taiwanese motherboard makers as sales apparently nosedive by 10 million units vs 2021

The PC market slowdown has severely affected motherboard sales according to a new report from DigiTimes. The report reveals that Taiwanese motherboard makers ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, and ASRock have suffered a combined sales loss of 10 million units in 2022 as compared to 2021.

It's Windows making the nose dive.  Nobody cares about/wants Windows 11 so why would they want to buy the corresponding hardware?  Plus USA crackdown on China tech companies means people looking to move out of Windows ecosystem.

Still rocking my b450 from several years ago- just upgraded to a 5700x.

People don't need or want a new motherboard every year.

They have tried to pull an Apple aka Nvidia by raising prices by €100+ and delaying budget series, now still €50. Unsurprisingly, many do not buy at all as long as GPUs and DDR5 are also still overpriced. The hardware is ok but prices are not. May their sales drop further!
