It isn't a bluetooth keyboard at all. It uses the iPads battery through the smart connectors, but isn't bluetooth.

Several iPad users are complaining about accelerated battery drain when the tablet is paired with the keyboard. One user lost nearly 25% battery during two hours of continuous keyboard use. The problem appears to be software agnostic as it persists on the beta and stable version of iPadOS.
