Lenovo's IdeaPad 730S design shrinks the popular ultraportable even further, but thanks to a quad-core Core i5-8265U, 8 GB RAM, and NVMe SSD, it promises blazing general performance nonetheless. At $870, how does it fare in what has become a deeply competitive market?

Is this essentially the same machine that was reviewed as the Yoga S730 a couple of months ago?
Yep, basically this is the American version of that model. The branding is different but ultimately they're identical (apart from specs differences of course).
Steve
So basically this is the ultamate chrome/word machine?
How come this review posts a higher score than the European equivalent Steve, is the i7 version that much worse?
does the fan kick in when charging?
Good review.
I have 730S i7 16GB. I think the battery test here is a bit misleading since I only have 5-6hr. If I dim the screen I may get a couple more hours sure but compared to the competitors I think the battery is the weak part.
Fan running could be a bit annoying. I managed to run Notebook FanControl application to control the fan at lower temperatures but definitely the device gets heated easily. If you are fine with this, or tech-savvy to find your personal solution for this, 730s has its edge.
