Title: Origin PC NS-15 AMD mobile workstations get Ryzen 5000 desktop-grade CPU options
Post by: Redaktion on November 06, 2020, 15:59:59
Don't want to wait a few more months for the Zen 3 mobile APUs? How about some custom laptops with desktop-grade Ryzen 5000 CPUs like the NS-15 AMD workstations from Origin PC? They sure are pricier, but you are essentially replacing your desktop PC. You can choose among all four new Ryzen 5000 CPUs, including the Ryzen 9 5950X flagship.

We have written a little update to our statement here (https://www.reddit.com/r/XMG_gg/comments/ixhvoy/statement_on_zen_3_in_xmg_apex_15_call_for/).

Quote:

There is no real update the the original statement at the moment. We do not yet have firm confirmation that Ryzen 5000 series CPU's can be supported in the current model. We also do not have an announcement on a potential successor model yet. Another US-based brand has already moved ahead with offering 5000 series CPU's in their laptop model, but we cannot confirm what kind of firmware support they really have, if any. We have reached out to various contacts to get more information.

There is also a new survey (https://forms.gle/Vdnv7Ps2WErch4ry9) where we ask the community which Ryzen 5000 series they would pick for their XMG APEX 15, assuming identical PPT levels, thermal layout etc. This should help us with our forecasting and to push the R&D into the right direction.
