Smartwatches could soon be capable of measuring blood sugar, blood pressure, blood alcohol and hydration levels. The innovations come courtesy of Rockley Photonics, which has announced a biometric sensor that is small enough to fit within a smartwatch chassis.

I hope an Android vendor does this and not Apple. If apple does then congratulations you have finally created something other than the Newton. Everything Apple has is copied and in the past they improved things. In my opinion nowadays they make the things they copy worse. Sad the General public is not smart enough to realize this. As a Journalist do you realize it? And do you vare?
I do not agree that Apple has only made copies, possibly this statement made in a comment is the result of ignorance of the changes caused by Apple, both in personal computers and in software and cell phones. In the case of cell phones, we need to remember what cell phones were like before the iPhone... I see more "copy" in Samsung products than in Apple... I'm not even going to talk about Chinese products produced cheaply by the exploitation of workers by a totalitarian state. Joining parts to create something new or in a new functionality is also inventing, otherwise we can say that nothing new is created in the world but last decades!
Pablo, you just described where and how apple products are made.
It's an American company that produces all of its products overseas to avoid paying higher hourly wages and social security costs.
I'll stick with android. If I am going to buy something from overseas, I am going to buy it from a foreign company. Not an American company exploiting foreign workers and selling it back to us at such an elevated cost.
I'm a type 1 diabetic and was curious on the price of the watch. Would insurance companies in the future cover it? I can't afford any other devices even with insurance.
How can I be a test student for the watch, I'm a diabetic and my level are hard to maintain with a glucose monitor?
I would like to know when the watch will come out and how much it will be
Would like to test....I am diabetic and have to poke 8 times a day. PLEASE
Hi..my daughter is 16 and a type 1 diabetic...will test this product
I would like to test this product. I am recently diabetic and given a glucose monitor. Also have dysautonomia/POTS so i have hr/bp issues as well. Temperature dysregulation. Constantly sweating profusely as well as major hydration. This would be perfect if it was made for Android.
Because of complicated mechanism of blood sugar censor it is impossible for now. I suggest you to read more before theorizing.
I would like to test this watch
I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and problem hydration.
I have type 2 diabetes and reading this is wonderful, I'm sick of pricking my fingers sometimes I feel I'm going to run out of blood lol, but this is wonderful news
Dying to test this... literally
I'm a diabetic an willing to test these new smart watch, Let me know when they go on the market for sell. I'll definitely going to buy one if the test passes.
Is there any way fir this to look like a bracelet rather than a watch? Seriously, those smart watches are not attractive. The only reason to wear them is for the health benefit.
This is something that would be great for everyone who has diabetes type 1 or 2.
I know it is something that I would love to have. More than willing to test this for the company!
My Son whom is 16 would love to trial this. He is type 1 we have been looking into this tech for a while and can't wait for something to hit the market. He is so sporty and active this would be a break though for so many if it actually works

I also have ptsd bpd mdd and anxiety ughh I am only 50 and feel like I'm 90. It seems that Diabetics and High Blood Pressure patients would be excited to have a quick view of their illness to take necessary action.
I am a 66 year old with an uncontrolled type 2 Diabetic issue. My situation, besides my illness is having to poke my fingers 3 or more times to check my glucose level. At any age the needle hurts but with age the pain doesn't go away so quickly.
Would love to try this innovative watch and hope it goes on the market soon. Thank you for your attention.
I am excited to hear about the upcoming Apple Watch. Very interested due to having type 2 diabetes, Crones disease, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue. These are all autoimmune diseases. At 71 this is very time consuming diseases to control. I feel this would help many people. If you need someone to test the watch let me know,
This is awesome, being a diabetic and one with high blood pressure this would be very useful. I would love to trial and I would purchase this watch.
Add me to trail of this watch measuring blood sugar

Hello, I have high blood pressure and I am diabetic. This trial would be perfect for me, I am continuously on the go and I don't always have time to stop and check my bloodsugar or my blood pressure. Thank you.
My husband is type 2. He is very active and always doing something. He doesn't check his sugar regularly, this is concerning to me. He would be great candidate for a trial. We are really interested as to when this will be released to the public.
I have type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
I'm highly interested to test this device at the earliest. Thanks!
Hi,
I have nothing wrong with me at all.
But I too would be interested in testing this new sensor, as you will also need control guinea pigs.
Michael
I have been diagnosed with Hypertension and high cholesterol. I am in the process of losing weight and improving diet. This would help me monitor my blood pressure and notice if it improves.
Would be interested in being a test subject. Am pre-diabetic and experience hypoglycemia at least twice a month.
Am a type 2 diabetic check 2+ times a day. Check blood pressure 2 times. Also have pacemaker. Would like to test. It would be a great idea for my health.
I see a lot of type 2s, but as a type 1,(35 years), I would love to be able to test one if they become available.
I would like to test this product. I do not intake alcohol, have no BP, blood sugar problem. Would like to test against people who have health issues.
I'm type 2 diabetic, and currently have a Dexcom G6, CGM. I would like to test and compare the accuracy and results of the watch's sensors.
I will purchase the watch, but only if it measures blood pressure correctly.
I would really hope to try a watch like that, I've been a diabetic type 1 at 17 and when I was 35 got a kidney-pancreas transplant. A year after transplant I got cancer, the treatments brought back my diabetes but this time Type 2 and have to take insulin up to 4 times a day. I'm now 55 years old and would really love to see this project to come to life.
I had my colon removed and developed Diabetes 2 and would love to monitor my blood sugar with this. With all my medications from the surgery and infections that occurred after that, it would be so much easier for me. Thank you.
I am type 2 diabetic. I have difficulty determing what foods raise my blood sugar. I would like to be a part of this test group and purchase this product if affordable.
This watch could help many people in my family. I currently do not have type 2 diabetes, but was tested via genetics & showed pron to get it, two (2) of my siblings and one (1) of my three (3) children already have type 2 diabetes.
I do not, however I am not overweight as they are nor do I eat the foods they do because of a digestion problem.
I currently wear a Garmin & a fit bit. Neither track blood sugar, blood alcohol, or dehydration as your product states it will do. I have been told I am dehydrated a lot,, mostly due to me not liking the taste of water, being able to track this would help me very much. Please provide a reasonably price product and I will be 1st in line to purchase one (1) for me and every now living member of my family.
I would love to provide a tool for my family that helps them manage a disease which kills in such a terrible way. Please consider me for any trial as well.
I am a Type 2 Diabetic for ehe last decade and would sincerely appreciate to be a tester of this product.
I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 44 yrs. Am on an insulin pump and would love to test your product. I am tired of the bruised, and sore fingers.
Ok, the new forum software is now setup with a different email provider which should not be blacklisted, greylisted, or otherwise broke. So please some respond to me and well see if this really works
