Title: How to flash vbios Clevo P170EM
Post by: MasterInTheUniverse on December 23, 2013, 19:50:51
Hi to everyone.

I am Italian and this is my 1st Experience with a Barebone Notebook.  ;D

I bought from a previous owner one Clevo P170EM here: http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?t=2582691

I bought everything except CPU RAM and VGA.

i would like to buy a 2920MX or 3630QM, 8/16GB RAM and a 7970M/8970M/GTX 680M.

I contacted a famous english store for one HD8970M http://www.ebay.it/itm/AMD-HD-8970M-2GB-for-MSI-1762-16F4-Clevo-P150EM-P170EM-m17x-R5-m18x-R3-/131045111919?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item1e82e5b86f&_uhb=1

but it asked me to flash the vbios, for having the vga's correct working...

How can i flash vbios? I haven't another dedicated gpu.

please help me  :'(

post scriptum: moreover the store's staff asked me info about the southbridge model. Now I haven't yet the clevo here.

there are some users.. but most - maybe all bought their ones from resellers - so we didn't had to flash the vbios and so we dont have experience with this. Maybe one of the clevo-resellers could/would help you.

I can't really help but I would prefer the 3720QM (or faster) over any 2xxxQM. They are faster than the fastest sandy bridge. With the right mainboard BIOS made by PREMA you can overclock all of them (except the 36xxQMs) by 400 MHz.

Thats the point. Most guys in this forum never ever needed to flash anything except BIOS... and thats most easiest issue of all. I would recommend to directly contact Clevo. They have a website.... i tried once before for a special driver... without success honestly, but Nvidia provided fitting drivers in time. For a direct vbios i'd contact a reseller, e.g. Hawkforce, One.de, and of course the best Schenker/xmg.gg. Unfortunately you are not a customer of any of them, so I do not give you a warranty of any reaction... but worth the try, I guess. In special the XMG team is very skilled in those things.
