Title: Modern compact Sony Xperia 5 V likely to match other 2023 Xperia flagship smartphones for RAM
Post by: Redaktion on March 31, 2023, 21:21:08
The Sony Xperia 5 V, which could be considered as a modern standard of a compact smartphone, will apparently come with the same starting amount of RAM as Sony's other high-end 2023 Xperia offerings. A post by a trusted leaker has seemingly confirmed what an apparent Xperia 5 V Geekbench run had already signposted.

QuoteThe whole series of 12 GB is good for civilization

That's "good civilization", I believe. Which, taking into account how terrible machine translation algorithms still are, we should interpret to mean that the newer phone represents an evolutionary step up.

QuoteBut the downside here is that it would mean the Xperia 1 V and Xperia PRO-I Mark 2 may remain at 12 GB for their entry-level SKUs.

How is that a downside? At least Sony isn't downgrading it to 8 GB like what Samsung have done.

Samsung can get away with anything apparently, if it's true that the S23 is selling pretty well. But even setting aside the comparisons specifically with Samsung and its curious approach to upgrades/downgrades, 12GB for an entry level SKUs seems pretty much adequate nowadays, how many phones have an entry level SKU with 16GB?
