Title: SwiftKey for Android gets Dark Mode support, redesigned Settings area
Post by: Redaktion on February 28, 2020, 13:25:45
After quite a long time since Google's mobile operating system got a Dark Mode, SwiftKey for Android gets to support it. The new update — released yesterday and labeled 7.4.9.11 — also comes with a redesigned Settings area that makes it even easier to customize your virtual keyboard.

Swiftkey is a very comprehensive keyboard with excellent multiple language support. I realised it demanded a lot of questionable permissions on my Android 9 though, so with a heavy heart I felt compelled to uninstall it. What I use now is not as good but at least it doesn't demand ridiculous permissions.

So is the "dark mode" of the keyboard just theming the settings part of the keyboard, not the keyboard itself? In this case it is hilarious. I'm using this keyboard for years now and have to switch between light and dark theme manually every day. And the glorious dark theme support is just theming the settings page. Well, I'm not using the settings page since years to really change something crucial, only to change the themes of the keyboard itself. Kind of a weak implementation of the dark mode.
