The Zeiss ZX1, first announced around two years ago, is finally up for pre-order. The device is unique in that it runs a version of Android that has allowed for the pre-loading of Adobe Lightroom for on-board editing.

Um what? Nobody at DPR thinks this will sell except hinging on "Zeiss must know what it's doing".
I hate it when they put Android on stuff that shouldn't run it instead of some minimal custom firmware. For example when FiiO and Cowon moved from their own firmware to Android. Still superb hardware, but the software... a disaster.

FiiO and Cowon shouldn't have done that, but I don't imagine Zeiss could get LR to run on anything more efficient than Android, they don't have the resources to do a one-off port to something entirely proprietary.
