According to reports, NVIDIA is preparing to release three new graphics cards before the end of the year. All are revisions of existing and past models though, with the RTX 2060 12 GB arriving first in early December.

This must be what some thought as the 3080ti. To get that 12GB ram they needed to go to either 256 bit or 384 bit, and I can't see them having a narrower bus width on the newer card. From what I hear they shifted back to tsmc but sadly only 7nm, must be saving the 4 or 5nm for the 4000 series.
