Title: Chuwi GemiBook Pro refreshed with an Intel Jasper Lake processor and a 14-inch display
Post by: Redaktion on April 22, 2022, 16:10:43
Chuwi has introduced a new version of the GemiBook Pro, which it has upgraded to new processors. Not only has the GemiBook Pro received an Intel Jasper Lake processor, it now also has a 14-inch IPS display with a 1440p resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio.

My only concerns when buying a notebook:

1.  Does it use PWM dimming?  I don't care how good the screen looks.  PWM is deal breaker!

2.  Is the screen resolution true 16:9?  If you stretch a 1080p movie to 2160x1215 that don't look so pretty.  That resolution is not true 16:9 (not divisible by 8).  This the second deal breaker for me...  When stretch 1080p to full screen, the 16:9 up-scaled image not divisible by 8!

Answering Mr. Biden,

1) literally ALL screens use PWM. Anything that connects with an LVDS/eDP would make use of also a PWM chip; (You've used laptops to a great detriment, so you should know that)

2) most movies are cut in 2:35-to-1, not 16:9. Regardless you screen aspect ratio, you'll get black bars on top and at the bottom. The only remedy to this non-problem, would be buying a 21:9 monitor (which is DUMB & WEIRD, only a Chris Chan-type would do that)

According to NBC tests, all OLED displays use PWM but more than 50% of all IPS or IGZO displays do not use PWM.

is it better than larkbook x?
same cpu, I find no differences beyond the display format, the base and keyboard look the same for both models.

Help, larkbook x or gemibook pro?
