Title: Samsung 990 Pro SSD in review: Fast, faster, Pro?
Post by: Redaktion on October 23, 2022, 17:10:27
The Samsung 990 Pro SSD comes with a convincing read and write speed, but remains within the PCIe 4.0 standard. We were allowed to take a look at how high the performance is in advance and test, format, and measure all the parameters of the M.2 SSD.

because those 9grams contains super minuscule structures that require state of the art tech and experts, years of development...

Because purely technical competition on the planet is being eliminated for political reasons (albeit extremely important ones). YMTC, as the main competitor in price dumping, is almost suffocated now, just like Huawei once began to quickly spoil Apple's sales statistics. Otherwise, this 9g piece of "hardware" would have cost $200-$250 already in 2023, or maybe even $150. But, alas, we are in a different time - military and degrading for civilization. Because someone decided a long time ago that it is possible to ignore authoritarian and totalitarian regimes for the sake of profit...

There's a simple reason to why all NAND products are extremely failing in profits today, and for the looOOoong foreseeable future, and these companies still refuse to acknowledge this SIMPLE understanding.

Majority of consumers WILL NEVER... EVER... look at storage, RAM, etc. as a premium product! EVER!!

Prices for 2TB models from the Chinese have already dropped to $100. Already now it is possible to sell 666(TLC>SLC)-500GB(QLC>SLC) disks instead of them completely in SLC mode. Why do I need a 2TB QLC disk that is not capable of storing data for a long time and is slower than an HDD during linear recording, instead of 500GB SLC on the same chips that are 10 times faster than QLC mode?

What do you choose (reasonable people) - 2TB QLC for $100 or 500GB SLC SSD for the same $100?

And why do manufacturers still not allow buyers to format disks completely in SLC mode through a proprietary utility? Is this a conspiracy or what?
