A patent that surfaced recently shows a MacBook with a new input device, namely the Apple Pencil. The images that accompany this patent show the pencil docked within the keyboard, and the Touch Bar as we know it will be gone. A much smaller one will be used, most likely in the next MacBook Pro.

Lmao what an awful idea...
Looks like an awful idea for us, but think about Apple - it is easier to lose or break the Apple Pencil than the Touch Bar. Add some touch surfaces to it for gesture control instead of buttons, make one available for US$199... it's a big win for the company. Sure, we're only talking rumors and speculations here.
It's a terrible idea, I'm sure mac users will love it!
@kony: Too bad we don't have a "Comment of the week" award, I would gladly give it to you!
MBP once has been a device of choice for software engineers. With a touch bar now is less than ideal. Without any way to access Fn1-12 keys will become unusable.
no fucking way this will happen
Hope they don't drop the function keys.
That would be pointless if the MacBook Pro doesn't come with a touchscreen....(and I can't see them doing that with them pushing iPad pros)
Hell no
