Early backers of the GPD Win Max handheld PC during its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign will be able to secure one of the mini gaming laptops for US$779. The Win Max features an Intel Ice Lake processor and comes with a built-in game controller and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. The crowdfunding campaign is expected to start on May 18.

That seems way too low for the tech they're packing in this thing. Was expecting $950 at the minimum, considering it's a mobile device, that serves more functionality than a smartphone.
If they release a refresh with a Ryzen CPU, I'm all-in. Not so keen on Ice Lake for a gaming device.
At this point, smartphones are far more valuable than mini-PC's. Though the mini-computing machines may offer a lot more ways to be productive, connect to devices, etc. It lacks carrier data network capabilities. So you can only make use of its stellar connectivity features when connected to WiFi but not most anywhere like a smartphone.
The GPD WIN Max would be an excellent micro-PC form-factor option for Dell & Asus computer brands.
