Title: Intel Rocket Lake-S will top-out at eight cores max and may not launch in 2020; Early Gen12 Xe scores indicate a 10% higher performance for the Willow Cove backport compared to Ice Lake 32 EU

Intel's upcoming 11th gen 14nm Rocket Lake-S processor for mainstream desktop users may not launch this year, according to a recent performance enthusiast roadmap from Intel. Rocket Lake-S looks to bank on improved IPCs than raw core counts and early 3DMark Fire Strike and Time Spy scores of the 32 EU Gen12 Xe iGPU indicate about a 10% improvement over Ice Lake UHD Graphics G1.

Better buy Zen3 and dGPU than Intel inferior CPU and lower end iGPU.

Intel continues to dissapoint the consumers whit inferiors CPU, AMD remains the best choice.

Zen3 7nm offers higher clocks than Intel 14nm???  Says who?

What we do know from recent benchmarks is that Willow Cove performance for 4 cores put up comparable numbers to a renoir 8 core, so what will an 8 core Willow Cove do when using higher clocks from Intel 14nm?

Also, a good question is what will the Xe clocks be in 14nm.  We can see that Renoir did well with its lower EU graphics run at higher clock rates.

Finally, Rocket Lake will also include PCIE4 and AVX512, which aren't in Comet Lake ... so should make a nice development desktop chip for those wanting those features.

Intel could squeeze 4 extra Willow Cove core by removing that pretty-much useless iGPU. I am confident a 12-core Rocket-Lake S would be competitive against any Ryzen 12-core flavor even the next Zen 3.
