The Lenovo ThinkPad T15p Gen 1 promises a more performant laptop package compared to the regular ThinkPad T15. It keeps this promise, but its performance has drawbacks. And so, in the end, we ask ourselves: For whom is the Lenovo ThinkPad T15p the right laptop?

Better late than never I guess, but 8 months after a laptop's release is making it rather ineffective.
Summary: poor value, heavy, loud and bulky workstation for niche users with incredibly thick, outdated bezels.
Next gen needs:
- AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS or 5900HX performance
- RTX 3080 (16GB VRAM) equivalent
- Dell XPS 17 bezels
- better webcam
And don't forget the next generation must include 100W+ USB C charging, full size SDXC card reader, PCIe 4 for M.2 and better cooling.
The price/performance is really awful for such disappointing performance in an oitdated chassis.
Did you know that the Asus G15 can fit an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS (35W) + RTX 3080 Max-Q (100W) into an even thinner, more compact 15.6" chassis?
No idea what Lenovo's doing right now, but their unhealthy reliance on outdated Intel hardware based on 2014 14nm++++++++++++++ cancer combined with their signature weak cooling systems results in quite unappealing work machines.
So no one mentions the elephant in the room?
Pairing a premium device with an ancient graphic card with a premium price tag.. It's underestimating the costumer.
The gtx 1050 is almost 5 years old, and based on an inefficient architecture compared to what we can get today for much less. Pay attention- not 1050 Ti, not 1050 max-q.
Very disappointing, Lenovo.
Great review. I think the point about the case and dimensions is very telling of a legacy design. This is too much like the old T440p. The problem is that was a long time ago, and a T440p is not a T series today. This is an L series.
