Title: SSDs and RAM sticks may start getting cheaper and cheaper in 2019
Post by: Redaktion on October 13, 2018, 16:52:17
The memory found in typical RAM and storage components - DRAM and NAND respectively - may drop in price, particularly as we move into 2019. This is based on new research by DRAMeXchange. This group claims that prices for this technology has not grown in 2018 Q3 as it normally does.

The  only thing stopping me from custom building new computers in the last 2 years is the ridiculous ram prices (gpu too but that has gotten better). I bought 16gb ram on a deal for 35 bucks, now it goes for 120-160 bucks, ridiculous.

It is good to see price drops, but 10-15% drop is not enough.

START getting cheaper in 2019? Nonsense! They've been getting cheaper for years now!

SSD memory prices are cheap for a long time.
And we get them cheaper than before only for one reason: more players are coming to this highly profitable market.
And big players are getting sad and angry they can't keep prices ridiculously high.

Same with RAM.
That fact, that manufacturing process is getting cheaper, does not mean for end user cheaper prices. Rather it will be higher margin for seller. At least for nearby future.
