Apple has launched a new cloud-based tool for transferring user photos from iCloud Photos to Google Photos. Previously, users would have had to download photos from iCloud Photos and manually reupload them to Google Photos, a laborious and time consuming process.

Would this also work the other way around, i. e. when switching to Apple as a long time Android user?
Or is it possible to simply continue using Google Drive (and Pictures) as a back up method on an Iphone?

You can use all of the Google services on iPhone
