A worthy successor? After Lenovo delivered a good outcome in the business sector with its ThinkPad 13 last year, the manufacturer now sends the successor based on Kaby Lake CPUs into the race. We examined whether Lenovo is successful and has listened to our complaints concerning the predecessor.

Review is incomplete without pictures of the innards and maintenance section.

Why such a small battery in such a large chassis? From outside looks like it could fit 70 Wh and this one has only 42 Wh. What a joke.

Thinkpad branding doesn't make a thinkpad. I can't understand why so many reviewers online would even recommend this machine as a top budget laptop.

Looks like a very nice machine! But have you done some wrong in your spec check? Becuase as far as I know Kaby Lake have Native support for USB-C 3.1-Gen.2 (10gbps) so could Lenovo even choose to leave that out when this machine has a Kaby Lake processor??

Lol I was thinking the exact same think, I don't know tho.. I read myself that kaby lake does support that so It would be kind of strange if it is not gen2-C port..

And FYI Notebookcheck.. I have the 2016 Thinkpad 13 and the C port here also supports charging, unlike your review of it so get your facts right.. Don't know if I can even trust your reviews anymore (That whole hinge thing, no problem here as the lid stays open 3-5mm from closed by it self)  ::)

Great review. Thank you very much. I was really looking forward to a detailed review of this machine. It has been in my radar for a few weeks now.

It is a shame the in the UK they only sell the 256GB SATA3 version. Do you happen to know if the M.2 connector is compatible with the NVME PCIe protocol? I was thinking of getting the 256GB version and then upgrade to 512GB PCIe SSD. My worry is that they might be using two different motherboards.

Thank you.

The bezel is cracking of my ThinkPad 13. I didn't drop my laptop or anything...just one day I noticed Cover was cracked. I turned to the local Lenovo service. When they saw a crack, they said Goodbay, this is not a warranty case according to Lenovo's policy, without any investigations or test.
