Title: LG Gram 13Z980-A (i5-8250U) Laptop Review
Post by: Redaktion on April 13, 2018, 08:18:57
Under a kilogram. The LG Gram 13 lives up to its name by being one of the lightest 13.3-inch Ultrabooks currently available. It's not without some sacrifices, however, as its barebone set of hardware features and fragile lid stand out as key disadvantages.

Complains about durability throughout the entire review but doesn't even perform a single test to verify the validity of said assumption.

If you are a potential buyer who is perhaps concerned about Gram's "flimy and flexible" chassis and its "comparatively poor rigidity" as Allen puts it, here's an actual real-life durability test from NoteGear - a well renowned Korean laptop review team.

SInce you haven't performed a full chassis disassembly much less a simple one, it's uncanny how you came up with "only fixed RAM" at the bottom of that short maintenance section.
NoteGear's teardowns of the current and previous gen Grams confirm all three 13, 14, 15" models to have an onboard soldered RAM in addition to a Socketed slot. Various other reviews also confirm that the laptop's memory is user-upgradable and runs in dual channel configuration.

And finally, USB PD is definitely supported in all three models because that was part of their marketing pitch during launch. In fact, LG sells a multi purpose USB-C power adapter specifically designed for Grams called PD-Boy, which apparently supports Quick Charging.

I agree with Nicolas, Allen Ngo's articles are consistenly bad written and misinforming. I pointed out this to notebookcheck.net (german-founding) but seems they have done nothing.
