Microsoft's latest Surface Laptop only started shipping last week and we're already seeing some issues with our review unit. If you're sensitive to onscreen flickering or are planning to use the Microsoft notebook for audio streaming or editing, then you may want to skip this model.

21370 MHz PWM! I think we will barely notice it.
Maybe there is a typo ^^
Why do people get Surface especially when with previous 6 generations they have been burned by its issues? They think Microsoft has some special insight into making hardware just because they make Windows? The other PC makers are way ahead in quality and versatility. The only good idea Surface showed was how to make a detachable and now the others are making it right. Microsoft should quit the hardware business.

Looking at the screenshot below article - indeed there is a typo. The frequency there is 21,37 kHz which translates to 21370 Hz not MHz.

Well... a few months ago, price performance of 2-in-1 devices similar to the i5 Surface Pro 6 was actually difficult to find. Build quality, totally passive cooling, light-weight and especially long battery life... so I went with it and I have barely encountered any problems, so I'm actually quite happy with it!
The biggest mistake MS did was send the lower end ryzen 5 model for review instead of top end ryzen 7 model. So many reviews comparing the low end ryzen 5 model with top end ice lake.
21370 MHz! Wow! That's the frequency of a police speed-gun! We can use it for street-racing speed recording! well, if the camera can get the Doppler shift, I guess.

It is indeed a legitimate question, I am one of those people that had problems (bad screen flickering + dead screen eventually) with Surface Pro 4, rapidly degrading battery in Surface Pro 5 and now screen corner flickering on Surface Laptop 3. The answer is that no one else makes a competitor for the Surface that really ticks all the boxes. There is only one other laptop with 3:2 screen ratio (I consider the 16:9 garbage and 16:10 almost garbage), and the rest of the hardware and design is really top-notch. I just prefer to deal with these issues than use a 16:9 or 16:10 screen.
