Sharp has launched its latest Aquos R6 in its home market of Japan. The new device has captured quite a lot of interest as it features some interesting tech in the form of an OLED display that sports a 240 Hz variable refresh rate and a main camera with a whopping big 1-inch camera sensor tuned by Leica.

I think the brand licensing is just non-exclusive...and it says 19, suggesting that it's going to crop significantly to reach the standard smartphone wide of 25-28mm equiv., that's a pretty interesting approach.

If the camera has a 19 mm focal-length lens on a 1" sensor, then the 35-mm equivalent for a 3:2 sensor (about 13.2 x 8.8 mm) would be about 51 or 52 mm, or for a 4:3 sensor (about 12 x 9 mm) about 54 or 55 mm. That would make this a true "normal" lens rather than a wide-angle lens.

Never mind. DPReview reports that the 19 mm is full-frame equivalent. So, lots of cropping.
