Title: The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro and 5i Pro are compelling media and light gaming machines with 2.5K 90/120Hz displays
Post by: Redaktion on January 07, 2021, 15:00:35
While the Intel and AMD models share many of the same features, Lenovo uses the thermal headroom in the 16-inch IdeaPad 5 Pro to pair next-generation Ryzen and RTX chips. Users can switch between 60 Hz or higher 90 Hz (14-inch) and 120 Hz (16-inch) refresh rates on these 16:10 (2560 x 1600) displays.

Disappointed with the 5i pro 16" modell. Only comes with "up to mx450" while the AMD version comes with "next gen RTX)

I doubt such a thin 16" chassis can cope with a RTX 3050/3060 Max-Q when the ThinkPad X1 Extreme can barely handle an entry level GTX 1650 Ti.

Also, Lenovo really needs to improve the keyboards of their non-ThinkPad laptops such as Legion, Yoga, ThinkBook as they're very mushy and frustratingly shallow.

I can't believe it, Lenovo was so close and they decided to put a numberpad on this 16" Ideapad 5 Pro. Are they out of their f***ing mind or what? Finally a compelling laptop with a big 16:10 screen and they decide to ruin it with a f***ing non-centered "main" keyboard because of the extra numberpad. Ffs what a bunch of ***.

Happy to see that Lenovo is taking good notes from consumer feedback.

That sounds pretty good! AMD with RTX is a great combo, and finally a 16:10 screen with a sane amount of PPI. Hope they get the rest of the details right (cooling, port variety, matte screen, quality). I'll buy one if they do!

Soldered RAM? I guess so.

This is going to be great, the keyboard will stop it from being perfect.

Why are people complaining about the keyboard? Isn't having a numpad great for work and gaming? The XPS 17 disappointed me because it didn't have one, besides the lack of non-usbC ports.

All of the Pros are powered via usbC right? Saw a pic on Engadget that showed one having usbA as the power port, must have been a mistake?

Sounds great in theory, but it's not really that great. Some keyboards don't have any separation for the numpad keys, which creates many mistypes and general frustration when doing long touch-typing sessions.

Furthermore, the home row (that will be where the F and J keys are in a QWERTY keyboard) is offset to the left of the center of the screen, which is also not ideal for long typing sessions.

I supposed it could be nicer for gaming but, let's get real, "gaming" on these Ideapads should never be a priority.

The answer should be that Ryzen 7nm CPUs add much less heat to the system than the Intel 11th gen i7 used in the X1.

If Lenovo dares offer AMD T-series maxing out at pathetic FHD resolution in this year's refresh, they can go frak themselves!
