Title: All publicity is good publicity: Despite Trumps's ban, Huawei's smartphone sales actually grew 23% YoY in H1 2019
Post by: Redaktion on July 30, 2019, 19:06:21
Huawei was hit with a trade ban that saw it effectively unable to do business with American companies. The media response after that may have led one to believe that all Huawei owners were tossing their phones in the bin and that the company's smartphone division was set to go under. Turns out, that couldn't have been farther from the truth.

Hate to say just as I thought, the ban could only hope to serve its original purpose if prolonged for far over a year.

Haha, not so recent though, I said so shortly after the ban took place.

Don't short-sell yourself, mate.  ;D

"No matter they reach the number or not the ban's impact was minimal. Huawei greatly consolidated its domestic presence thanks to the ban which offset loss of sales elsewhere."

Yeah that too :), but before that I was referring to this:

Well Huawei brazenly brags about a plan B, also it has about a year of American components stocked, which will probably hold out through the trade war.

I unfortunately don't see any significant (negative) impact to this dishonest and disgraceful company thriving off of anti-intellectualistic nationalistic brainwash, trade subsidies, and IP theft.

OTOH the vast majority of Chinese drank the Party's coolaid firmly believing Huawei's a mere private company singled out by the US (enemy) government, which will significantly boost sales in the long run, while in reality this company will receive unlimited infusions from the Chinese government, if necessary, to stay aloft. It's an entirely government vs. government struggle in which the Chinese government is at a significant economic advantage to the US, considering the purchasing power of the CNY: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)
and China's high tax rates.
