Would've been whole lot better if it comes with Ryzen. Intel is pretty much the name to avoid as much as possible if you don't have any very specific reason for using that recycled microarchitecture.
I hate MS and the Surface, so if I wanted a tablet computer I'd prefer this over that, and I know someone who does want one, but how is the price justified? This is over $600 more, so I don't see how it's supposed to compete, unless it's a case of that price being jacked up so they can put it on a massive "sale" for a lot less, but I just checked and it's almost exactly $600 more than the Surface.

What you said is exactly what the big OEMs are doing with the price strategy. The Surface has its flaws, but MS is still the best at 2-in-1 Detachables because there is practically no competition.
It's almost like the shareholders and execs at the top aren't willing to invest in good engineering for the long-term profits, and only see selling overpriced PCs to rich company's managers as a way to make a few bucks in a short period.
