A study conducted in the US in March 2021 has found that nearly 92% of all iPhone users polled would upgrade to another Apple smartphone, whereas only 74% of Samsung owners would do the same. This represents a drop of nearly 12% in loyalty to the Android brand compared to 2019, whereas that for iPhones has gone up by 1.4%.

Only goes to show how much money Americans like to waste away and how crippled they are thanks to carriers.

Apple spends an enormous amount of money building an ecosystem. That is what hooks people in. It is very comfortable, but pricey.

I don't think so. Apple excels in polishing user experience. In delivering "it just works." And they're willing to sacrifice what power users might want. I believe their ecosystem is the oldest of all the systems still in existence and back then, they had a significant advantage in delivering an experience. They didn't really build the ecosystem. They offered the most interesting platform that appealed to users and developers came because there was money to be made. Not only was the userbase large, it was also willing to spend. But that's history.

The real numbers are probably smaller. The fact that 21% mentioned they're too invested in apple to switch is a good sign.
