Title: Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 gets upgraded to 28 W Intel Alder Lake-P, screams minimalism with capacitive function keys, seamless haptic Forcepad, and no headphone jack

At CES 2022, Dell announced the new XPS 13 Plus 9320 with a new chassis design. The XPS 13 Plus now features capacitive top row function keys, a seamless haptic Forcepad, and just two Thunderbolt 4 ports without a microSD reader or a headphone jack. Dell has upgraded the internals to Intel 28 W Alder Lake-P processors together with LPDDR5-5200 RAM and PCIe Gen 4 storage.

"Dell XPS 13 has always been one of the most-anticipated devices at CES"

Really?? Only time I've been interested in the Dell XPS lineup since its 2012 launch was in early 2015 when they redesigned and introduced the first slim "Infinity Bezel" and the first "Precision" driver touchpad.

Every other cost-saving measure Dell's taken since then - removing QHD, removing all ports variety, reducing key travel, downgrading webcam, and decreasing battery capacity - has been a major letdown.

Not to mention Dell's horrible customer support in western countries, increasing QC lottery and frequent reliability issues, make it completely impossible to recommend them. I doubt anything has been fixed this year judging by what little I've read so far.

What a disaster. Two ports, no headphone jack, no SD slot, 720p webcam.

XPS used to be one of the top laptops. Now it's a joke.

The heat on this thin laptop will be hard to bare, even with its so called cooling...the physics cannot be dodged..this isnt arm architecture ..its x86 at 28W..so this under load of cpu+igpu will reach at least 50-60W in total

This is for office uses and basics...and for that Dell didnt needed to place 28W cpu inside

So Apple just gave up on the touchbar, but Dell thinks it's a good ideea to go with capacitive function keys?
Another year, another stupid keyboard change.

Looks cool and fancy and is very futuristic. But the usability is more than questionable.
Macs proved that capacitive function keys (and Escape) are horrible to use. Touchbar has failed even with its extra customization feature. Didn't Dell learn of it?
"Zero-lattice" keyboards are also hard to get used to. And there are this borderless touch pad. This machine is such a failure.

It's as if Dell poached some retards over from Apple and started redesigning stuff in the most stupid way possible.

Another year, another time where HP actually presented more interesting laptops.

Seems like Dell is simply copying everything Apple did - but with a one or two year delay. Maybe next year we can see XPS with USB-A, HDMI and fn keys.
