Title: Nintendo reaches 80 million Switch sales, but there will be no Switch Pro or Super Switch announcement 'anytime soon'
Post by: Redaktion on February 01, 2021, 20:38:48
Sales of the Nintendo Switch family are close to eclipsing the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with 79.87 million Switch consoles having been sold since March 2017. Sadly, Nintendo has confirmed that it does not plan to announce a new Switch model 'anytime soon'.

Nintendo releases new home consoles every 5 or 6 years.

Switch will be 4 years old next month, so i think the Switch successor will come 2022 and i don't see they will squeeze in a beefed up "Pro" in-between.

Why would they want to cannibalize sales of the Switch, anyway? It's outpacing the PS4 by nearly 4 million units a year. And knowing Nintendo, they are actually making money on the hardware.

Hopefully they'll go full nostalgia with the "Super" Switch and make a new 2D ish Super Mario World.
