Experimental success? An affordable, and yet gaming-capable slim 15 inch notebook equipped with ULV hardware - that's a combination sure to raise eyebrows. Our test will show if the Acer Aspire V5-571G can deliver multimedia versatility in the disguise of an Ultrabook.

"WONT" WAKE UP WITH WIRELESS MOUSE OR WIRELESS KEYBOARD WITH LID CLOSED !!!! NO WAY IN HELL WILL IT !!!
I think that, at last, i found the laptop that suits my needs and my wallet :) thx very much notebookcheck.net !
Bought one for my son for X-mas gift. He plays Minecraft, Team Fortress and other web based games.
He is over-excited over the sleakness and lightness of the Acer, and the performance is more than adequate
for him. I can only recommend it due to the price/performance level, and the ultrabook-like
design! Rating: 9/10 :-)
the microphone is terrible it catches every single noise... im just frustrated :(
I bought a refurbished one of these (I don't know if that's why I'm having so many problems) and I like it overall, but some things are driving me nuts! The keyboard keys don't always register as typed so it randomly leaves out letters while I'm typing or sometimes double types words. I would be lost without spell check, because I wouldn't see everywhere my letters was missed! Also my webcam isn't registering as even a device on my laptop. Have to do a re-format before Acer will deem my laptop non-functional. I do love the fact that it's fairly light weight (compared to my last laptop) and its actually slimmer than a macbook pro that my friend has, I was very surprised.
Thinking buying an ACER computer? DON'T!
If you are going to throw money away, throw it my way. I made the mistake of buying an ACER Aspire 722 Netbook and within 3-4 months, the case split and a piece fell out. Not only that but the keys stick, it's slow even with 2 gb RAM and the touch pad has a mind of it's own. Some programs I get a flickering line that doesn't go away.
ACER will not back their warranty. When I called customer service, I got some east Indain guy that does his best to void your warranty starting with the case is not covered under warranty. Then he wants you to mail in your computer (at your expense) while they evaluate it for CID (customer induced damage) to void your warranty, but the excuses are endless.
I took it to a local repair shop and they said they would have to remove the screen and take the case apart which would void my warranty and recommended I contact ACER, which I did. I ended up contacting a corporate office in Texas and was given an email address of
[email protected] where I addressed my issues with ACER.
Not only did I get no response, when I emailed again, my mail was returned. They will make it impossible for you to have them honor their warranty. They will make you jump thru every hoop imaginable to not honor their product. My computer guys also said that ACER was their #1 for repairs.
Another friend of mine had endless problems with her ACER also.

So my friends, if you are going to throw your money away, don't throw it at ACER. Now t's time to post this letter at each of those websites (including ACERS)and I will do this every year.

I have bought it and I love it! I am sorry guys but if you bought this kind of computer is because you don-t want to spend so much on a Laptop and It was the same for me when 6 months ago I have choose my ACER V5. A great laptop. It is fast with games and applications in a really good looking aluminum case. I only had a little problem when I was closing my lid but with the BIOS upgrade they fix the problem. I cannot ask for more for a 400 Pound Laptop.
I have one of these laptops. I think it is stupid for what they say it is meant to be. When I got it, it was under "Gaming Laptops" at JB-HiFi Australia. I can barely play games like Need For speed Most wanted and Battlefield 3 on the LOWEST graphics settings. Not only that, when its idling, most of the time it idles at 90 Degrees Celsius. I sent it to Acer telling them the problem and all they did to "repair" it was a full factory reset blaming 3rd party software.
