Teased ahead of an expected launch later this month, camera samples show the Xperia 1 II offering better low-light performance than its predecessor. The device, which will retail for over €1,000 at launch, will come pre-installed with a new Photography Pro app, too.

We'll see if that Zeiss branding means anything, I'll be expecting minimal peripheral resolution drop, coma and distortion because the brandless phone modules already aren't bad in these aspects.
But in practice, it will be worse implemented than on a promotional video. I would like optical zoom, not digital zoom.

I'm not counting on the sensor performance (including total light gathering) to be 1st tier, Sony seems quite conservative in comparison to what's currently achievable in terms of hardware specs this generation. The only potential advantage I'm not ruling out is a superiorly performing set of optics under the conservative specs, which is not uncommon in the ILC world but I'm not sure how it is for these modularized products that are only meant to be produced for a year.
