Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has agreed to settle a lawsuit with the US government. The lawsuit accused the social media giant of operating an ad servicing algorithm that helped housing advertisers discriminate against certain groups.

"ensure that the people who are seeing the ads are the right target audience"

I have used the web for 27 years and have seen exactly 1 targeted ad that I wanted to see but countless millions of unwanted ads. Algorithms cannot find suitable ads if they select among those being paid and not among those one might want to see.
