Title: AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS continues to astound with hefty Fire Strike Ultra physics score that punishes the Core i7-9700K

AMD's Renoir APU, the Ryzen 7 4800HS, has been spotted in action again. This time, the mobile processor was tested on 3DMark's Fire Strike Ultra test, with the physics score recorded as 21,254 points. This puts it way beyond a tested Intel Core i7-9700K on 18,934 points and not a million miles behind the powerful Core i9-9900K on 24,794 points.

Why is this chip constantly being compared to a hamstrung 8-thread desktop part, and not it's actual competition- the Coffee Lake 8c/16t mobile i9? I suspect the only reason is that it's slower, and nobody wants to hear that

It's slower, but also consumes a lot less power(i9's 45W TDP, PL2 can go up to 125W). Certainly less impressive than beating a 9700K so that's why it's not compared probably, but impressive nonetheless.

You mean the second best gaming desktop that Intel has ever made? The one that can hit <150w?  There's no way a mobile chip of any type should be beating the pants off a 9700k ...

And its an R7 - competes with i7 ... not i9 ... rumour has it AMD is still yet to release R9 mobile (accidentally leaked by notebook vendor).

This seems easy enough to look up on Notebookcheck itself. In Fire Strike Physics, the 9880H scores median 17729 and the 9980HK scores median 19854.

my i9-9980hk does CPU score in timespy 10,795 and since then I've tuned it to around 11,000...I want to attach a pic but you can see it here , actually it won't let me post my facebook, look me up on FB Brook Gall or  #ROGELITEGEAR

expect High Power use. AMD 7nm show before it is more power hungry than 14nm+++ when it is really *faster*. It means big throttling

What an odd thing to say, considering that AMD's TDP generally represents maximum power draw when the chip is fully stresses, whereas Intel's TDP is only for base clocks.

7nm less efficient than 14nm+++?
Have you seen AMD's Zen2 power draw numbers on desktop alone?

Furthermore, the Zen 2 mobile chips are highly binned parts with monolithic dies.

Oh and, its usually Intel that has problems with thermal throttling in laptops...
But laptop OEM's are morons who never design proper cooling assemblies for laptops in the first place.
