New Geekbench listings of the Apple M4 have shown up online. Its CPU is remarkably faster than its predecessors in single-core performance and its GPU punches above its weight class, too.

"On the GPU side, it scores 53,792 in Geekbench's Metal benchmark. That is a whopping 56% faster than the Apple M3 (34,421) and 10% faster than the Apple M3 Pro (48,785). "

1.56 or 1.10 times as fast is very far from Apple's claimed up to 4 times faster. Not that I am surprised, but of course more tests need to be awaited.

You are wrong.

Quotes from the product website:
QuoteUp to 1.5x faster CPU performance than M2

QuoteUp to 4x faster pro rendering performance than M2

I am right because

1) I did not refer to the CPU,

2) I referred to the GPU,

3) 3D rendering is best done on the GPU.

You're not reading that carefully. Apple compares the M4 to the M2 on their website because there was no M3 iPad.

Meanwhile notebookcheck is comparing the M4 in the iPad vs. the M3/M3 Pro on the Macbooks.

yah

The article is completely unreliable - you cannot compare the results of Geekbench version 5 with the results of version 6... Metal M3 score is about 47K

Geekbench is garbage and represents nothing. So, the new version comes close to the launch of Apple's new processor, how interesting. Stop paying attention to this crap.

Ok, I have overlooked this important detail indeed.

Good excuse for Apple not to compare at least also to M3 of other devices;)

They are always comparing with old(er) devices, not just now. They were recently comparing their new M3 MacBook Air with a dual-core Intel i5 Air so they got wild figures such as 50 times faster graphics, 15 times better battery life and crap like that. Of course they won't compare with a direct predecessor because 9874325678745689435786984753% sounds better than 8%.
