Title: 10 cores and 5.3 GHz — Intel possibly hits the limits of the Skylake architecture with the new 10th gen Comet Lake-S for desktop
Post by: Redaktion on April 30, 2020, 16:23:00
Intel has finally taken wraps off its 10th generation Comet Lake-S desktop CPU lineup. Comet Lake-S could possibly the last of the 14nm processors from Team Blue, and the flagship 10C/20T Core i9-10900K offers thermal velocity boost frequencies up to 5.3 GHz. The 10th gen lineup includes processors from 35 W to 125 W TDP and will be available from May 2020.

Anandtech is reporting 250w continued turbo and board makers are prepping for 320+ watts os sustained TDP. That is sky high and needs a lake to cool it.

I'm sure they said it will be fine until they reach 6 GHz 😏

I can't wait to waste money on this, then pay a lot of electrical costs for it and air conditioning.
