EVs are no where near clean. The power grid is 33 percent efficient. A modern diesel is more efficient before you even plug in your EV. There's no surplus renewable power so any extra load on the grid comes from fossil fuels. Educate yourself instead of letting the media brainwash you.

Clean is a relative word. It is only clean relative to ICE

You also seem to be confused about efficiency, when you say the grid is 33% efficient, you are talking about the average efficiency of the fossil fuels on the grid (ignoring the 40% that is non-fossil fuel). You are then cross comparing it to the best diesel engines at PEAK efficiency, not their average efficiency

Of course even that fossil fuel 33% is based on outdated data. As the years go, older less efficient coal plants get decommissioned

In US average NG plant is 44% efficient and average coal plant is 32% efficient

In 2023, coal made up 16.2% and NG made up 43.1%, so average grid efficiency for fossil fuel is closer to 40%

Note, the efficiency number is based on 2022 data, so with more older plants going offline the average efficiency is also higher in 2024. Also the electricity data is also from 2023, and more coal plants closed since as coal is projected to go down to 15% or lower
