While Lenovo remains unsure about which GPU it has included in the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2, NVIDIA has confirmed that it is not the regular GeForce GTX 1650. As expected, Lenovo has included a GTX 1650 Max-Q instead. While NVIDIA is releasing a new driver to address the confusion, it may be months before it arrives on most X1 Extreme Gen 2 machines.

The Lenovo product page explicitly stated that it's Max-Q in the specifications. I don't know why there's any confusion at all.

It's true that the product listing (under "View Current Models") on the US page mentions Max-Q, while that on the German and UK page don't.
However, the Tech Specs section on the same page mentions Max-Q for all 3 regions, which they would have found if they did a Ctrl-F for "Max-Q" and "MaxQ". The previous articles don't mention looking at the "Tech Specs" section at all; they only show a screen shot of the "View Current Models" listing.
The Tech Specs section is obviously the most reliable source of information publicly accessible, because both the product listing and PSREF are space-constrained and abbreviated. If they wrote articles on this without even looking at that section, it's either extremely lazy journalism, or intentionally manufacturing fraudulent articles.

To come back on the points you have raised:
PSREF is not space-constained or abbreviated. The main page may be, but not individual listings. Take these as examples, the both list the GPU as a GTX 1650, not a Max-Q.

On the contrary, since Lenovo lists the majority of specifications under "View Current Models", it is reasonable to expect that to be a reliable source of information.

Even with the latest drivers, my X1 Extreme gen2 i9 reports itself as GTX 1650.
