Apparently, AMD did not show off its flagship Navi 21 XTX version with the Ryzen 5000 CPUs earlier this month. Rumor has it that the performance metrics presented back then come from the Navi 21 SKU powering the RX 6800 XT cards and these can match the RTX 3080, but they also feature a lower price point closer to the RTX 3070.

I hope this rumor is false. Being right on par with the 3080 / 3090 is not enough. AMD GPUs needs to be at least 15% faster than the 3000 series!
Sure, the price / temps / power consumption would be lower but that's not enough to take away from NVIDIA's market lead and from features like RT, DLSS U, Broadcast, etc.
I hope AMD has more in store.
IMHO, since Nvidia can't seem to make not nearly enough of Ampere cards, not only that AMD have to beat them in performance, they just need to be close in performance and be available for purchase. Anything beyond that like same or better performance or even cheaper price is a bonus at this point.
On par is a definite win if AMD can beat the RTX 3080 in pricing and AVAILABILITY.
