Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 Lite in mid-2018 running Android One, making it eligible for at least one more OS upgrade. However, the company has now sparked talk online about whether the device will even receive Android 10, with it seemingly relegating it to just security patch updates, instead.

Glad I got the mi a2. But even then the updates are a pain.
This is so Xiaomi it hurts.
They're definitely not the worst when it comes to updates but they have a tendency to announce devices they'll update to the next major Android version... it doesn't always materialize for every device listed.
Sometimes it's unusual; you'll get devices are basically identical - Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 5 are a good example; it's cheaper sibling never got to Pie despite it being virtually identical. And it got exceedingly poor buggy updates when it did get them; updates were continuosly "on hold" for much of the device's lifespan.
The situation with updates from Xiaomi could be better in general. Often aspects of MIUI feel slightly "beta" and fixes are slow to roll out with major inconsistencies between differing regions of devices. Still waiting on a stable Q update for the Mi9T Pro. Their first release has a few issues that they haven't subsequently fixed in weeks.

They release so many phones per year that I'm surprised that they aren't doing an even worse job. Q update on Mi 9T Europe was just a few days ago and everything is stable and working great. Guess a new update for the Pro one won't be far behind!
I have a mi a 2 lite :( I'll go ask a xioami representative
wtf xiaomi.
my next phone will never be xiaomi again.
maybe realme x2
Nothing new, my redmi y1 haven't got any one big major android update, it launched with Version 7.1 and still running on that only. And even worse is that security updates are late and in gap of 4 to 6 months
I have just received Android 10 update on mi A2. It's 1280 mb update dark theme, gesture navigation and privacy controls.
